 Somali pirates

This is from December, I’m a little late in posting. Great article about how some Somali pirates have created a stock exchange. Honest open capitalism lives........in Somalia. Very interesting, maybe we should trade Wall Street for pirates.

 Fish Oil

Interesting article about a small study that seems to show fish oil as a solution to reducing psychosis and pschizophrenia. I put the link below:

Also saw another article talking about fish oil, omega 3, and mental illness:

 Wedding Dress

Now for today's sexist, poor taste joke:

A boy asked his mother the following question:
"Mom, why are wedding dresses white?"

His mom looked at her son and replied:
"Son, this shows your friends and relatives that your bride is pure".

The son thanks his Mom and goes off to double check this with his father. He asks him:
"Dad, why are wedding dresses white?"

The father looks at his son in surprise, and says:

"Son, all household appliances come in white".

 Copenhagen

Turns out the US delegation to Copenhagen for the recent global warming convention was just a wee bit expensive. CBS News did a report, and it appears that the conference cost the US taxpayers over 1 million dollars. While some say nothing was accomplished at this European circus, I would beg to differ. It appears that numerous Congressional and government employees were able to escape their back-breaking, low paying jobs, and enjoy a few days of luxurious hotels and restaurants to help soothe their aching minds and bodies. A small humanitarian gesture. Link is below:

 Government & Jobs

Interesting statistics I ran across today:

* Total nonfarm employment is down 4.6% since January 2007, reflecting a decline of 6.27 million jobs.

* Private-sector employment has fallen 5.8% and lost 6.625 million jobs.

* Total government employment climbed 1.6% over the past three years and added 355k jobs.

* Meanwhile, federal government employment (not shown on the chart) rose 3.7% and tacked on 100k jobs over the analyzed period.

*The average pay per federal worker in 2009 was reportedly $75,419, while per capita average annual income across the U.S. is only about $36,000.
